Restaurants
You'll find a bunch of restaurants, cafes and âbrasseriesâ in every city. Below is a selection of nice venues where you can enjoy local food and/or culinary delights.
Al Marcà
The Rialto market is a very large square with entries to many small alleys, harbouring different kinds of restaurants and pubs. Al Marcà is one of those restaurants. This is the ideal place for lunch with a delicious sandwich. Amidst the employees of the neighbouring court, businessmen, markets vendors and students, you can take some delicious Italian wine or a panini with a wide choice of fillings. The friendly staff only speaks Italian. There is no option to have a seat, though. Drinking and eating is done standing outside, even during winter.

This restaurant has had many romances; Aristotle Onassis and Maria Calas fell in love here and Elizabeth Taylor spent two honeymoons at Danieli. On Danieli's terrace, you feel as if you're being part of a Renaissance painting with the San Girgio Maggiore Island and the canal in the background. Even the food is being served as a work of art. On the menu you get a wide choice of exclusive dishes and wine.
