Rome's buses are almost always full and the roads are frequently so busy that even a short trip becomes lengthy. You can't buy tickets on board, you have to buy them from a tobacconist's. Bus stops are indicated by a sign which says 'Fermeta'. There are yellow signs at the bus stops with information about routes, stops and departure times. The bus service runs between 6.00 a.m. and 24.00 p.m. Special night buses run at night. You can recognize them by the 'N' that appears before the bus number. The majority of night buses leave from Piazza dei Cinquecento and Piazza Venezia every half hour.
