Rome

Restaurants

You'll find a bunch of restaurants, cafes and “brasseries” in every city. Below is a selection of nice venues where you can enjoy local food and/or culinary delights.

Al Ceppo

Al Ceppo

Al Ceppo is a restaurant in the heart of Rome that's delighted diners for 36 years. Two generations of women have stood at the restaurant's helm during that time, something that's reflected in the warm interior and the fine paintings of women that grace the walls. The restaurant also has a very pleasant lounge bar filled with fresh flowers. The varied menu features lots of meat and fish. Everything is prepared on the charcoal grill which stands in the middle of the restaurant, giving the food its unique, delicious flavour. [Read more]

Il Gelato di San Crispino

Il Gelato di San Crispino

Il Gelato di San Crispino is according to experts not the best ice-cream parlour in Rome, but the best in whole Italy! Anyhow, they have the most exceptional tastes here and the owner only makes those tastes that he finds delicious himself; that's promising! Their ice-cream tastes are very exotic, like e.g. ginger, cinnamon or honey, ornamented with meringues, hazelnuts or red grapefruit with whisky. The tastes vary per season, because all ingredients are fresh. They have three establishments in Rome: Via Acaia 56, Via Della Panetteria 42, Via Bevagna 90. Do watch carefully, because they are easy to miss. [Read more]

Dal Toscano

Dal Toscano

An extremely busy and extremely cheap restaurant serving Tuscan cuisine. It's located inside the Vatican, near St Peter's. On Sunday evenings it's filled with Italian families enjoying a leisurely meal. The atmosphere is relaxed and the service very good. In the summer you can sit outside. The food's delicious and the fresh pasta with mushrooms (fettuccine ai funghi) and the fresh white beans with olive oil come highly recommended. [Read more]
