At the end of the spring is the annual Spring Festival, the highlight of Prague's music calendar. The classic festival was first held immediately after WWII. Now top musicians and orchestras perform in concert halls, churches and theatres. In the past the festival showcased only Czech orchestras, but these days you can also enjoy performances by international orchestras. The annual Shakespeare Festival will run from June to September. This festival pays tribute to the work of William Shakespeare and, naturally, sees the performance of his most famous plays. The plays are performed in the open air and at the best location: Prague Castle. Many VIP guests, like the Czech President, often attend the festival.
