Gay life Madrid

Gay life Madrid

Sensual, passionate and full of temperament: the gay area Chuenca in Madrid is dazzling. In the past, this place was one of Madrid's poorest and most criminal neighbourhoods, where drugs and prostitution ruled. Now it is the trendiest neighbourhood and the centre of gay-life in Madrid! Spanish men-lovers will feast their eyes. In short: the perfect start to explore gay-life in Madrid.

In the nineties the area has been thoroughly renovated with government funds. Due to the typical atmosphere a lot of artists have come to settle here. Now, the area has plenty of nice shops, restaurants, disco's and a diversity of bars. At dusk the area awakens and at the Plaza de Chueca you have a parade of handsome men. From the many terraces at the square, you'll find a magnificent view, but evidently you have to hurry for a spot.

The area has also a lot of cosy and, more importantly, delicious restaurants. The fun part of Madrid is the fact that most people have dinner late in the evening. Most of the time restaurants only open at 10pm. This way, you can head straight to a bar afterwards. And this area has plenty of them. It's easy to be entertained until dawn. One of the best places to go to, is Star’s Café Dance, at Marquéz Valdeiglesia: the top floor has a snug and trendy bar and the ground floor has a very cosy discothèque!
