Doclisboa is the only film festival that's devoted entirely to documentaries. The ten day festival will be held for the sixth time in October. The best of modern Portuguese and international documentaries come past and around 120 documentary films are screened. Three main prizes are awarded for three categories: the international competition, the national competition and the investigative competition. The prizes consist of a trophy, a diploma and EUR 7,000. During November and December, Lisbon plays host to the Musidancas Festival. Throughout the month, you'll find everything that relates to music and dance at the French-Portuguese Institute. This swinging festival focuses on the music, theatre, dance, food and traditional arts of Portuguese speaking countries. There's an extensive exhibition of paintings from these countries as well.
