Calvinist Church
One of the less known churches in Budapest is the one of the Calvinists. The remarkable design is made by architect Samu Pecz. This construction belongs to one of his masterpieces. He has built this church between 1893 and 1896, next to the former medieval market. Although he used new construction materials, the church still has a neo-gothic style. Furthermore, it's quite remarkable that this church has a typical medieval shape of catholic churches. The usual properties of protestant beliefs are normally clearly different. That's why this church is highly recommended during your city trip.

Semmelweis Museum
Immerse yourself in the world of medical science with a visit to the Semmelweis Museum! Dr Ignaz Semmelweis was responsible for discovering the cause of a deadly condition in the 18th century. The condition, known as puerperal fever, cost many women their lives. The museum honours this 'saver of mothers' with an exhibition of his work and also depicts the history of Hungarian physicians. You'll find medical books, instruments and even a fully-stocked 19th century model chemist's. The museum is situated in the house where Semmelweis was born, and is equally beautiful inside and out!

Parliament
Budapest's Parliament Building is the most impressive building on the Danube embankment and, with an area of 17,745 square metres, is the biggest building in Hungary. A competition to find the best design for the new building was won by Imre Steinsl. The Parliament Building was built between 1884 and 1902, and was partly inspired by the Palace of Westminster in London. Guided tours are given during the weekend (in English, among other languages) and last approximately 45 minutes. Entry is free to EU citizens, upon proof of identity. See also the website below.
