Christmas fair
Around Christmas, there is a magnificent Christmas fair in Brussels with more than 240 stalls. This is the ideal place for culinary delicacies. One part is situated at the Grand-Place, together with the enormous Christmas tree and crib. There are also a lot of lights which will lead you the way to another part of the fair at the Sainte Cathérine church, on the square which is called Vismet by the locals. Here you can enjoy yourself on the skating rink and afterwards you can get a steaming mug of fish soup or a delicious half piece of lobster.

Waiters' Run
There's nothing worse than spending hours waiting for a slow waiter to finally bring your order. That's why Pineau des Charentes (a brand of Cognac) organizes a Waiters' Run in Jubelpark, giving the fastest waiters a chance to shine! Each contestant must complete the course while balancing a tray with a bottle of Pineau des Charentes, a candle and three glasses. Whoever crosses the finishing line first wins, providing nothing's been spilt! The afternoon's entertainment also includes music and good food. Be sure to take note of where the winners work - so you know where to dine!

You'll be able to admire the inside of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, also known as the cigar. Apart from the usual programme, twenty of Brussels's buildings which proved popular attractions during previous Heritage Days will also be open. The second day, 20 September, coincides with a car free Sunday, so Brussels will be the domain of pedestrians and cyclists.
