The International Film Festival Amsterdam was founded in 1988 to stimulate the culture of documentaries nationally and internationally. This year marks the 22nd time that the IDFA has been organized and it has developed into one of the world's major documentary film festivals. Over 250 documentaries are shown during the festival. What makes the IDFA unique is the large number of international film programs that often gets to make their European debuts here.
